Hey, Syl!
What about NebuchadRezzar?
I seem to remember that spelling -- alternate rendering or another man?
THANKS!

i was thinking about this.... in my congregation, i was literally the only one with universitary education, out of a cong from around 110 people.... and we're very close to a very big university, which makes it even weirder.. on the other hand... sooo many here with their own business, mostly small cleaning businesses.
cleaning windows, or cleaning somewhere else... painters.... all have jobs that do not require any education level, cos they never had a decent education.. how is the composition of the jw people/congs that you know about?.
how many painters... cleaners... compared to people with jobs that require higher education?.
Dear SGWC:
Just saw your post as I prepare to go to work. Sorry I have to run.
At 70, I am someone's Pop Pop and we are very close. I would have loved yours.
It is wonderful having you here and I get Doutiful Dan!
Blessings and love and peace . . .
greetings, my aging friends:.
it's not really a funny subject, our getting old and our bodies falling apart.
sure, as the saying goes, hard work won't kill you, but it can wear out your body.
Thanks for all the wonderful and helpful comments.
Pre-1975, when we labored for the Lord (not JW-speak, I realize), we had no concept of our ever experiencing the attendant aches and pains of old age. Sure, Grandma and Grandpa had their share, but we would be young forever . . .
NOT!
blondie’s comments you will not hear at the april 23, 2017 wt study (february 2017) (leads).

Thank you, Blondie.
I recently viewed Silence, with Andrew Garfield and Liam Neeson.
The story centers around the initially alleged and later confirmed apostasy of Jesuit priests. I was never so hit between the eyes about my own [former] faith. Father Rodrigues touted "the truth" of Christ's message to the Governor/Inquisitor, who calmly stated that the faith of the RCC could not grow in the "swamp" of Japan.
I could honestly see the morality behind the priests' abandoning their misguided faith in order to save their goodhearted but delusional native converts. It was those Europeans immersed in the faith who developed the gravest doubts, seeing their resolute but simple-in-the-faith Japanese converts undergo martyrdom for beliefs they could never fully grasp.
All the above in my newfound belief that God does not direct those who arrogantly proclaim his direction of them exclusively.
today i went to a large talk.. there was no arguing or swearing, just kindness and respect.. it was orderly and calm.. trash was put in the proper place.
people were even picking up litter that wasn't even theirs.. the speakers were passionate and inspiring.. the entire event was orchestrated by volunteers.. it was march for science, not a dub ass-embly.
so much for "only jehoopla's people" behaving like this at large events..
I remember leaving the fairgrounds at closing time, around 10:00 p.m. Summertime; hot; dusty.
A huge line (queue) of vehicles. No honking, no shouting, everyone awaiting his turn to merge from conjoining arteries into the main.
No, it was not a JW event, but the annual summer fair.
"Worldly" people sure do impress me with their unexpected good manners!
i feel an unfamiliar restlessness in my lower body.
too long have i been confined to my sickbed; my mind and heart coax me arise and gaze upon the world outside.
it is no longer a matter of fighting long-entrenched despair.
I FEEL THE SUN'S HEAT UPON MY SKIN, yet, too, the damp caress of a wafting fog only now come in from the sea.
It matters not that eyes have long been dimmed to the marvels, the beauties of Nature, while I see her through memories recalled, vibrant in a rainbow of color . . .

I had periodic asthmatic attacks when cleaning clients' bathrooms. I was initially diagnosed with COPD. Yes, good ventilation is a must. In the US, we have a product called Shower Power -- effective, but oh so potent. Don't want to breathe it.
I'm happy to hear you're managing the pain, GT, but it would be so much better if these aches and pains our elders complained about when we were younger had not been visited upon us!
The New System! The New System . . .

Shower Power is not your average bathroom cleaner or soap scum remover, it is formulated to save you time and leave your bathroom with a dazzling shine. Shower Power has a proven reputation of being tough on scum, hard water stains, mineral deposits and more. But don't take our word for it, scroll down to read what our fans have to say about it.

Hey, Someguywhocares:
Thanks for your reply.
While there is a Dapper Dan, I was taking advantage of a little alliteration and coined "Dutiful Dan," as in Dan who is not remiss in performing his duties. As you wrote, we who are competent and willing get the brunt of the tasks.
It's easy to become tangential, don't I know. My point, however, was in our being tied body and soul to duty.
Yes, I know these people, all a part of my cineastique travels in and around the Silver Screen:
Imogene Coca
Carey Grant
Robert Shaw
John Derek
Gene Rayburn
Bela Lugosi
[. . .] it is scary just how rapidly we are losing, not just the segments or clusters of data themselves but, even more frightening is watching as we lose the mental faculties to even know where to learn this stuff which thus further diminishes whatever value said knowledge or data once had. -- SGWC
Will comment on this later. You have struck a responsive chord . . . (I panicked the other day because I forgot the common misapplication of a word and where I had learned that fact. As an avid note taker, I scoured every scrap of data. I PANICKED!)
Hope to talk more soon.
Best wishes.

Thank you, GrreatTeacher, for the healing words!
I didn't realize "growing pains" were literal, having taken the expression to be figurative. I've always been a metaphoric kind of guy . . .
It was good to be out in the garden earlier today, "tooling around."
Best.

You have given me much to chew on whilst I go mow my lawn.
I am, I believe from what I scanned, twice your age, yet see myself in all that you have described as to proclivities, personality, academia, etc. The Golden Boy image -- as perceived by others and bought into by oneself -- tarnishes and leaves Dutiful Dan in both emotional and physical tatters. It happened to me when serving as a missionary/Bethelite in my early, vulnerable 20s.
Well, enough for now. The growing grass calls with urgency.
Later, newly arrived and most welcome youngster . . .
